Designed for the road and property

Visibility begins with more than sign height.

A successful pylon sign balances readable copy, cabinet proportions, tenant organization, illumination and placement with traffic speed and viewing distance. Taller is not automatically better—the sign must remain clear, structurally appropriate and permitted for its location.

Our team evaluates the property, setbacks, surrounding obstructions, municipal sign code, desired messaging and service access before developing the sign structure and display configuration.

Engineering and installation

A tall sign depends on what is below the ground.

Pole and pylon signs require coordinated structural design. Sign area, overall height, wind loading, pole construction, cabinet weight and site conditions influence the steel supports and concrete foundation.

Installation planning also accounts for underground utilities, electrical service, access for drilling and lifting equipment, traffic control, local permitting and future service access. SignCoDFW brings structural fabrication, electrical sign work and installation together under one commercial sign team.

Pole and pylon sign questions

What to know before requesting a proposal.

What is the difference between a pole sign and a pylon sign?

Both are freestanding signs supported above ground. “Pole sign” often describes a cabinet mounted on one or more exposed poles, while “pylon sign” commonly describes a larger integrated structure or covered support. The terms are frequently used interchangeably.

Can pylon signs include multiple tenants or a digital display?

Yes. A pylon can combine primary property identification, individual tenant panels and a programmable LED message center, subject to local sign regulations.

Does SignCoDFW engineer and install pylon signs?

We provide design, manufacturing and installation. Structural engineering, foundations, permitting, electrical service, lifting equipment and site access are evaluated for each project.

How much does a commercial pylon sign cost?

Cost depends on height, sign area, number of cabinets or tenants, illumination, digital displays, structural steel, engineering, foundation conditions, permitting and installation access.
